Music

Music at St. Paul United Methodist Church is a vibrant part of the worship services and includes presenting a wide variety of music styles.

Chancel Choir Member

The choir members take music very seriously but also like to have a good time at the rehearsals. We are a real community choir, not professional—several members cannot read music—and are always welcoming of new members interested in joining us. The Chancel Choir meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 PM, (30 minutes may be added when preparing special music for Christmas and Easter) in the choir room and at 9:00 AM on Sundays.

Alleluia (Pre-school – K) and
Hallelujah (1st-5th Grade) Children’s Choir

The Joyful Noise Children’s Choir is open to all children ages 4 through 5th grade.  The group rehearses on Sunday mornings at 10:30 (just before Sunday School) and sings several times during the school year (September-May). Contact Lisa Hester for more information.

St. Paul Handbell Choir

The St. Paul Ringers rehearse on Monday evenings at 6:30, preparing to share musical offerings many times throughout the year.  This group is also preparing to attend the 2017 Arkansas State Handbell Festival, February 25, 2017, being held at Benton First United Methodist Church.  This Festival gives them the opportunity to ring with over 100 bells as one bell choir.   To check if there are any openings for ringing in the bell choir, contact Lisa Hester at the church (as this is written, there is a need for a couple of ringers.)

Seasonal Singing (Advent/Christmas or Lent/Easter)

As a Seasonal Singer, you may participate in our worship ministry on a more temporary basis than as a member of the weekly Chancel Choir. Usually this involves about a 2 month commitment for preparing for each of these special seasons.

Occasional Vocal Ensemble and Instrumentalist

Vocal or instrumental musical selections are always welcomed. Our Director of Music Ministries has many musical arraignments available for flute, trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, piano duets and piano/organ duets, so let Lisa Hester know if you are interested in providing a special music offering during worship or if you know someone who is willing to share their musical gift.

Praise Band

Our Praise Band leads worship at least one Sunday each quarter.  If interested in participating in the Band, please contact Director of Music Lisa Hester.

Wicks Pipe Organ

Our 18 Rank Wicks Pipe Organ was installed in 1975.  The Zimbelstern was added later and the church also has The Verdin Singing Tower, allowing the chimes to play outside for the enjoyment of the community.
The Pedal Stops, Swell Stops and Great Stops are pictured below.  Also the Zimbelstern.
