YOUTH REPORT

Youth Group on Vacation

The youth enjoyed a great summer trip to Florida. We volunteered at the Harvest House (shelter & food bank), St. Andrews Anglican Church, and the Alaqua Animal Refuge. Of course, we had plenty of fun time on the beach. We had Communion on the beach and had devotionals every night. Many thanks to the chaperones: Dianne Bogard and Katie Martin, as without them the trip would not have been possible. Also, thanks to Cathy Drilling for the Communion Bread and Suzie Van Patten and Rev. Bradford for use of their challis, and of course the congregation for your prayers!

We have started our 9th year of volunteering at Bro. Paul's Soup Kitchen every Friday. The youth have been preparing and serving meals to over 200 adults and over 120 youth and children every Friday. This is a wonderful ministry and our youth really enjoy helping those in need. We had 22 youth volunteer a couple of Fridays ago and had to take two vans!

The youth are having a great summer and we are preparing to paint and decorate our newly commissioned youth rooms. ~ Roger

Report from Senior High Camp at TANAKO

Did you blow right on by? You know, the things we see and possibly know something needs to be done but just let it go? Well, we learned: "We are the World - missions; what they are, where they are and why they are needed. We found out about Maslow's hierarchy of need: safety, food and shelter." Many things came our way: scriptures, organizations at work, activities, fun and to be sure worship. We looked at John 5, global trade, micro enterprising. We considered drugs, crime, illegals, Mexico; treatment of the poor, hungry, homeless, animal cruelty and food drives. We looked at Ezekiel 16:49, oppression, war, religion, Muslims and the like.

We had afternoon breakout sessions that brought focus to local (like Ozark Mission project) and short term missions (like Rice Depot). We looked at China and had a much better understanding from Rev. Clyde Hugely who had served as a Missionary there last year. We learned more about Heifer project, needs and service == passing on the gift.

Then Timothy 6:17. What about our wealth? DO you believe that everything you own is a gift of God? Are you generous - time, money, stuff? Are you content?

Did you read this or blow by? We are shown things and issues that may need our involvement. We need to be quiet ( really quiet ) and have the opportunity to gain understanding as we connect with God.
